S-130 Field Day
3/22/25 - Members of the Weiser Wildland Firefighters had the opportunity to attend the S-130 Field Day organized by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). This event was a fantastic platform for our experienced firefighters to share their knowledge and skills with new students eager to learn about wildland firefighting.
During the field day, our team helped set up and managed various stations where participants could engage in hands-on learning. Some of the key stations included hand line construction, firing operations, fire shelter deployment, and pump operations. Our crew had eight dedicated members present, and was able to assist a total of 63 students from various counties, including Schuylkill, Dauphin, Lebanon, Carbon, and more.
The S-130 Field Day not only provided valuable training for the students but also allowed our team to reinforce the importance of teamwork, safety, and effective firefighting techniques. We are proud to contribute to the development of future wildland firefighters and help them prepare for the challenges they may face in the field.
